Meet Queenzy Malagayo

Engineering Insight Behind Hiko’s LV Innovation

Queenzy Malagayo is a Design Engineer at Hiko Power with strong technical capability and hands-on experience across electronics design, R&D, manufacturing, and project delivery. Since joining Hiko in July 2021, Queenzy’s journey has reflected both the company’s growth and her own evolving expertise. Her work reflects what we value most—technical excellence, collaboration, and a commitment to building smarter, safer power infrastructure.

Starting with Hiko as a Manufacturing Engineer, Queenzy transitioned into the design team in December 2022 during a period of expansion. In 2024, she broadened her industry experience in project delivery as a Project Manager for one of the networks. Her return to Hiko in November 2025 speaks to the strong connection she has with the team, the work, and Hiko’s purpose.

Holding a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering with Honours from the University of Canterbury, Queenzy is a key technical go-to within the organisation. She has contributed to the design of Hiko’s flagship Universal Tank Mount LV Frame, supporting solutions that are practical, scalable, and aligned with network requirements across New Zealand. Beyond product design, Queenzy has delivered internal systems that strengthen quality and usability across Hiko’s operations such as a quality database used in production QA processes and created the QR code system now featured on LV product labels—allowing customers to instantly access installation instructions via a simple scan. Committed to continuous professional development, Queenzy is currently preparing to sit her PMP certification exam in May, further strengthening her project delivery capability.

Originally from the Philippines, Queenzy has called Christchurch home since 2006 and has fully embraced the Kiwi outdoor lifestyle. Outside of engineering, she enjoys camping and travelling, trail walking, hiking, kayaking, and expressing her creativity through Bachata dancing and a newly enrolled woodworking course.
